After having to retire a Vermont Casting stove for over 25 years, I purchased the Drolet Escape 1800 in the Fall of '21. Running my stove 24/7 from November through April, I wanted a stove that I could load up to burn through the night. I was impressed with the ease of loading large pieces of wood, which is a nice feature and the large front glass, however the design for cleaning out the stove is not very efficient. It comes with a large "plug" at the bottom that is quite cumbersome to push the ash without losing many embers. I have to resort to "sifting" through the embers with a small shovel and hand cleaning the stove every couple of days. The burn time is not what I am used to, but it does produce a significant amount of heat. For the price I am very happy, but because of design as it relates to cleaning the stove, I am not sure I would purchase again.
